About Us

Annie and Rae have the same Bipolar 1 disorder, the same bipolar insomnia, the same MFA degree and the same hair type -- but it doesn't end there. They also find the same -- weird, dark, disturbing -- subjects absolutely hilarious. And they both worry about things that other people don't give a second -- or first -- thought. Annie and Rae can both laugh about their old sad, traumatic stories as they try to build new happy ones together. Is this podcast just an excuse to spend way too much time together? You might think so, but it's an endeavor they both believe in. Please join them!

Annie LaVaughn

is a disabled memoirist from New Hampshire. The only exciting thing about where she lives is the Long John Silver’s, so she spends her time playing online cribbage and eating mandarin oranges. Annie is obsessed with electronic music and made lots of bad decisions when she was younger in relation to that, possibly leading to her current psychiatric problems. But it’s too late now, so…

At times Annie becomes her alter ego, Andrea, and it would be unfair not to mention her influence. Andrea maxes out credit cards buying nitrous cartridges from porn shops, hangs out with people who obtain drugs with food stamp cards, and tells strangers about her gynecological problems. Annie and Andrea are at all times playing tug-o-war. It’s very tiring, and you can expect the battle to be present in the awkwardness that exudes from Annie’s being.

Annie’s a good writer; Andrea’s a great one. The former spends most of her time trying to figure out this conundrum, and she waits patiently for the day when a listener comes up with a solution and sends it to annieloveon@gmail.com. Annie and Andrea’s writing has been published thousands of times and has reached thousands of readers. Its entirety can be found at Facebook.com.

Rae Rose Glemby

-- The Real Disabled Housewife -- is the worst housewife in America. That expression -- don't sweep things under the rug? Glemby literally sweeps rice under the same shag rug she never washes and she honestly doesn't care -- but does wonder if the old rice are like zombie-of-the-apocalypse-rice and the new rice are like new-meat-rice and absolutely terrified. She has been published in many places (Poetry Foundation) but the most exciting moment of her career was when a 9th grader wrote an essay about one of her poems. a Zoeglosia fellow, has an MFA in creative writing, teaches kids poetry in the Kids! San Diego Poetry Annual and I told you about the rug, right? Other than making stick figures (link to Glemby) for seemingly no reason other than she feels like it, she takes care of her two children in sunny California, from which she is from. Her book, Bipolar Disorder For Beginners, is available here. Reach her at raeroseglemby@gmail.com.
